Paris, May 15th 2017: Paris-based animation, production and distribution company Cyber Group Studios is honored to distribute worldwide* for Television and OTT platforms, the multi-awarded animated feature film "Iqbal, Tale of a Fearless Child" a Franco-Italian feature film developed with the sponsorship of UNICEF and promoting the fight against child slavery.
Based on the book by Francesco D’Amato, published in more than 30 countries and directed by Michel Fuzellier and Babak Payami " Iqbal, Tale of a Fearless Child" tells the story of an energetic and joyful child that wanted to earn money to help his sick brother. Trying to support his family, Iqbal will be exploited in a rug factory and rise against his abusers. Initially theatrically released, the movie that has been critically acclaimed, has been screened, nominated and awarded at the occasion of major international festivals and in particular:
- “FIFEM” Montreal International Children's Film Festival (Canada) 2017: Shown as part of the Panorama selection.
- “FICAM” Meknes International Animation Film Festival (Morocco) 2017: The film made the evening closing of the festival and was shown in more than ten cities in Morocco with the assistance of the French Institute in Morocco.
- Cartoons on the Bay - Pulcinella Awards (Italy) 2017: Awarded as “Best Animated Feature Film”
- Amnesty Film Festival for Human Rights (France) 2017: Won Young Public Award for “Best Animated Feature film”.
“Iqbal” has also been screened in Miami (USA) last February during the first edition of a Street Art exhibition organized by a French and American NGO “SAM: Street Art for Mankind”, whose mission is to stop child slavery. This Street Art exhibition was organized to raise funds for the rights and freedom of children.
“Iqbal” continues to travel the world and will be screened at the opening of the Positive Cinema Week May 17th in Paris (France) and has also been selected to enter the competition as "Best First Feature Film Fiction or Documentary" at The Positive Cinema Festival. The award ceremony will take place during Cannes Film Festival on May 24th during the Fundraising Dinner of “Positive Planet”, the world-famous NGO.
